Dental Check-ups in Sydney CBD

A dental check-up is a chance to understand the condition of your teeth, gums and existing restorations. Even without pain, you can discuss bleeding when brushing, bad breath, sensitivity or cleaning habits and agree on the next steps for your care.

What can a check-up tell you?

Teeth and restorations

We look for signs of decay, wear and chips, and check fillings and crowns to identify what needs monitoring and what may need treatment.

Gums and oral tissues

We assess bleeding, swelling and changes in the mouth. Tell your dentist about any ulcer, lump or ongoing discomfort you have noticed.

Your prevention plan

Your findings, diet, medicines and cleaning routine help guide advice about professional cleaning, home care and your next visit.

Your routine dental exams visit

  1. Share your health and dental history

Bring a medicine list and any available previous images. Tell us what concerns you and whether dental treatment makes you anxious.

  2. Examination and explanation

Your dentist recommends X-rays according to clinical need. The same images do not automatically need repeating at every visit.

  3. Agree on priorities

Discuss monitoring, prevention and treatment in order of priority, including the stages if more than one visit is needed.

Understand the costs first

Check whether your appointment covers an examination alone or includes cleaning, X-rays or other items. Private health rebates depend on your policy, annual limits and treatment items. A check-up is not automatically gap-free.

Frequently asked questions

Explore common questions, then discuss what is suitable for you at an individual assessment.

How often should I have a check-up?

The interval depends on your decay and gum disease risk, cleaning and treatment history. Your dentist will recommend a schedule for you.

Do I need a check-up if nothing hurts?

Early decay and gum problems may not cause obvious pain. An examination helps assess your current oral health.

Is a check-up the same as a clean?

No. A check-up assesses and diagnoses; cleaning removes plaque and calculus. They can be arranged together when appropriate.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Bring medicine and allergy information, your health fund card and any available dental records. Tell us about pregnancy or important medical conditions.
